Turkey 2 for 2007
#1
Ok heres bird 2 from Missouri. I went back to Missouri on Sunday for a 2 day hunt. I killed this very fine gobbler at 8:15 today April 24th. I had a great time up at Grand River outfitters. It was a blast. While I was in Missori I got to meet Antler Addict. Let me just say myself and my buddy Ed had lunch with Antler Addict and it was a pleasure to exchange stories and talk hunting with a fellow board member. Mark your welcome to hunt with me in Indiana whenever you'd like. This time lunch is on me. Now to this wild and crazy story. Let me tell you all about the peacock. Well they must have had a pretty good storm out there a few weeks ago and this peacock must have gotten lost or something like that. Well at the lodge we talked about this peacock, and how it sounded. Well this morning I got to hear this peacock. That was different to hear turkey hunting. Anyway once it was daylight and I was calling I had a gobbler step out at 50 yards and went into strut. Then out of nowhere the gobbler lifts his head and off he goes. Im dumb founded. Then less then a minute later another gobbler steps out at 30 yards. Lifts his head alarm putts and off he goes. Im like whats up here. Then I catch movement and look towards my decoy and there he is in all his glory, that darn Peacock. He goes up and pecks my decoys. Im like this isnt happening. Just then a jake comes out at 30 yards and he putts and off he goes. So now Im mad at the peacock. So finally the peacock walks off. I call once he is out of sight. Nope here he comes back. Im thinking this is crazy. So I shut up. Then he walks off again. So I start yelping and lo and behold he returns. Im like hes costing me hunting time and birds. Just as I saw him I caught movement and saw 6 gobblers walking up this fence row. Once they are all in range, 15 yards. They start putting. But the good news for me is 6 came and 5 left. This one weighed 20.5lbs 9.75in beard and 1 1/8in spurs. Oh I love turkey hunting. BTW the peacock did leave once he heard the Mossberg 500 roar...

Arrowmaster, Congrats on two very fine Missouri gobblers. You are da man! A pleasure to meet you also and enjoyed lunch with you and Ed. Hope those Hoosier gobblers are ready to wear a tag for you. Good luck and be safe. Expect a couple pics from you here in the next few weeks. Mark
