Default Fox whistle for locator?

Has anyone ever tried a fox whistle as a locator call? As the season goes on owl and crow calls may not get the same response as early in the season and I was wondering if this might work. I guess I could just try and see.

It is a whistle that simulates the sound of wounded prey such as a rabbit or mouse, etc. It is used for calling in foxes, yotes, bobcats etc. It is pretty loud so I thought it might work. I will try it to roost birds friday night or Saturday morning and let you know how it does.

I use my goose call when i hunt the one place i have it is near two lakes.
Alot of the time when the geese fly over it sets them off.

i never tried anything other than the old trusty crow call. ive heard them gobble to everything from owls, crows, peacock calls, geese, yote howls, thunder(excellent shock gobble...cant rely on it though) gunshots, train horns, door slams etc etc etc...

not sure if they would gobble at the whistle...everything ive ever heard has been a deep loud sound..except the peacock...which is loud and high pitched like the whistle...id say its worth a try...see what happens...doubt it would hurt.

ive never had trouble with the crow call. weather im in a spot with 1000 crows around or 0 crows...always seems to work all season. if a bird dont gobble im confident there isnt a HOT bird around. ive noticed when shock gobbling birds that most times they are ones that will ATLEAST talk to you...but i only shock gobble after flydown...usually after the first hour or 2 after flydown after ive lost the birds from the roost..

i second the train whistle.i live by tracks and when it goes by if theres birds around they answer especially in late afternoons.other than that the trusty crow call works great.
