Me and three good friends went to South Dakota turkey hunting last weekend and I shot a 19 lbs. bird that had a 9 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Excited and my best friend was with me and that made it more special than I can put in words, just thought I'd share am still excited about it. He shot one opening morning and I shot mine Sunday night. Here are some pics

Well boys, hee is the story. It was tough hunting out there, the birds were all henned up and were not very vocal in the mornings. So my friend and I decided to drive aroun and try to get one going in the afternoon. We put probably close to 100miles around the hills, and had 4 or five birds respond but everytime we would get close they would shut up or bust us or something, so I was up a logging road in the morning, and took the trail to the left so I wanted to check the trail to the right that night. We got down the trail a couple hundred yards and had one blast on us, we set up, and nothing happened so after an hour, we got back in the truck and started driving again, we took the trail all the way to the end and parked the truck at the bottom of the hill. We called and had a gobble way off in the distance, so we got our gear on and started up the hill. I was about four steps behind my friend and he starts yelling, "shoot! shoot! shoot!" I looked up and there is 15 birds looking at us at 10 yards! I ran up infront and pulled up the gun, the birds didn't like that too much so they started to run, I found the tom and put one in him, and another and another, now we are all running and I stopped and tried to put another in him, not easy to hit a running bird at 20 yards, so then I put the after burnners on and cought up to him and shot him at 5 yards. Surpprisingly not too much damage to him, broke both wings and blasted his head. Not really a story to brag about, but is a little funny when told in person. We were both so excited and pumped we couldn't hardly breath after chasing this bird 100 yards in the hills, but we managed to doa little celebrating anyway. I appologize if this is too long but you asked for the story, and I dont like to take short cuts. Thanks everyone that has replied, this bird means the most to me and I am still riding my high.......ttl
