RE: locator calls?????
Ya im with you, i use both and they both sound good but i can never get them to gobble to them. I was told a peacock works good. I might try a hawk locator, cuz whenever I hear a hawk scream in the woods it always makes the toms gobble.

RE: locator calls?????
I also hunt in Vermont and have had good success with barred owl calls, but only before first light. A good locator call is a pileated woodpecker call. The birds don't hear it as much as a crow call and will usually answer back.

RE: locator calls?????
I haven't had much luck with a owl hoot...I have had better luck with a crow call. Make sure to try different lengths of the call as well as different rythms and sequences. Some days the gobblers will answer them and other days they wont.

RE: locator calls?????
Sometimes I do A high piched whistle. It works better than an owl hooter.

RE: locator calls?????
If the whole idea behind the shock gobble is to startle the turkey into gobbling, will it work if I do like a howl or something? I've always wondered this, but am hesitant to try. I've never had a crow call work, and rarely has an owl call worked for me. Rarely do Ieven bring them in the woods anymore.
