Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default differance between a yelp and a tree yelp?

In the past 2 days I've seen mention of throwing a tree yelp real early. One person gave it as a tip to use if you know there are other hunters in the same area throw a tree yelp before anyone else calls and the I don't exactly remember the reasoning from the other person but it also was usedjust before or at first light.Would someone please explain the differance? Thanks

Oh boy, had to come back cause now someones talking about using a gobbler yelp and cluckinstead of the hen talk. Man, this turkey stuff gets deeper everyday. Again, thanks

A tree yelp is a softer yelp than the standard yelp. Hens typically make this yelpatdaylight while in the roost. Once flydown, it isn't used again. It is simply softer and slower than the standard yelp.

Plain Yelp of Hen
The yelp is a basic turkey sound. It is often delivered in a series of single note vocalizations and can have different meanings depending on how the hen uses it.

BKE, get on up here to Missouri. Those Carroll County hens will tree yelp for you. Just bring some warm weather with you. Winter returned to MO.
Brrrrrrrr.

Arrowmaster, I'll be just over the county line from where your at. I'm in Chariton County not far from Triplett. I'm real familiar with Hale and Bosworth though. Maybe we could meet up for lunch if you are going to be around on a day I will be up.

Arrowmaster, the second week I will be up again on Monday the 23rd. If you are around that day I could meet you in Hale. Is there a local watering hole in town ? A cold Bud Light to celebrate a couple of big toms hopefully. I'll buy !!!
