anyone shot birds with their bow and got them mounted? if so did they turn out ok? I have a buddy that swears a bow kill would run the mount...who knows....what do you guys think?

Some people think that because the broadhead cut some of the feathers off, it will turn out bad. And unfortunately some taxi's don't do a good enough job and the mount comes out looking like a turkey with a bald spot. But a good taxi, will take the time to position each and every feather in that area to make the spot disapear. Just like a big bullet hole in a deer, it is trimmed, sewn up a particular way, and the hair groomed, same thing with a turkey!

Actually bow shot turkeys make a nicer mount. You do not get all the stray bb's cutting feathers off. It sounds funny but my best friends a taxidermist and he showed me the difference. You probably wont even ever notice the feathers that get cut from bb's unless you are a taxidermist. I know my archery turkey mounts are nicer then my shotgun mounts.

Thanks guys , my friend is really proud of them.
The bird in the flying mount was 19 pounds with a 10 inch beard and the struting mount was 22pound with a 11 3/4 inch beard.
My frind arrowed them out of a ground blind on his sisters farm.

Yeah my dad shot one with a bow and had it mounted. It really shouldn't affect the mount at all.

My triple bearded bird that I arrowed last spring is still at the taxidermist. I'm anxious to see how it turns out because I used a large mech. head and it left a pretty big hole in the turkey, BUT the taxidermist said he'd make the hole dissappear. We'll see soon!
