i live in Texas county, MO.
MO is know for the biggest turkey population in the U.S. and Texas county has the biggest turkey population in MO.
they are everywhere out here, the gobblers where tearin in up! yesturday morning while i was out making a seed bed for my foodplot. this year ought to be good.
nows the time to be killing a bird.
Yea Texas county is like Pike county is for deer for turkeys. Anywhere in MO is pretty darn good tho. That's why we have the biggest kill numbers. Anyway good luck this season!

Oh yeah.....MO....the turkey capitol of the known world! You bet I'll be out there as usual. This will be the 14th year in a row that I've taken off work for the first two weeks of the season. There's not a better time to be off work and be in the woods IMO!

Thanks Antler Addict. Sorry I got the county wrong, I think Carrolton is the closest bigger town other than Heil which is small like Bosworth. They're like long lost family so I've been out there for a visit the past 3 years and I love the country there, nice and quiet. Haven't hunted yet which is why I asked, I want to plan on it this year. Uncle rotatessoy beans and corn, I'm surehe told me it's corn this year. Let's hope the birds and the bucks like this years menu. Good luck

Going out on the youth hunt this weekend and will be going out during the regular season too.
I've heard it can be a lot harder to get a turkey during the youth hunt because the gobblers don't gobble nearly as much as they do during the regular season, is this true?
BTW, I hunt in Callaway County, a couple miles from Fulton.

NO WAY!!!
the youth this year gots it good really good!!! i rather hunt this sunday (becuase rain saturday) than hunt on the regular opener. the gobblers are tearing it up right now!!! the cold weather is over, the birds are tearing it up!!!
see for yourself go out in the woods and give a few shock gobbles. right now is the time the gobblers are running the woods!!!
i think right when the regular season opens the turkey (rut) just peaked and is on the downfall.
youth is gonna get alot of turkeys this year becuase turkey opens up earlier.

MOHunter88, yeah its going to be a little tough this year during youth season, not so much because the birds wont be gobbling as much,, which is true, but the reason is because the gobblers have lots of hens with them now, and thye dont have to gobble as much to attract them, as the hens start to nest and sit on their eggs, the toms will gobble more to find mates, and will be easier to call. Henned up birds are definitely harder to work with, but if you can find where they are going and cut them off, it can still be great. Good luck guys.

BKE Carrolton is a town close to Hale MO. Im hunting in Hale MO the 16th. Hale MO is in Carroll county. Hale is a small town and awesome. I'll be hunting with my good friend Don Cox at grand River outfitters. Let me just say the turkeys are great there. Its so great Im looking for land to buy there...
