Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default turkey shot density

Just getting started in turkey hunting and was wondering what is the ideal density of shot in the kill zone (neck) of the turkey. I'm shooting a Remington 1100 with Federal 2 3/4 Mag-Shoks. At 20 yrds I'm getting about 15 hits (neck), but at 40 yrds just 4 hits. What is considered adequate for turkey hunting?

Sounds like your gun is typical of a 2 3/4" gun... 30 yards may be your limit...

You prob have a lot of work before it's a 70 yard gun
