Like already mentioned, here in NY we can only hunt until 12 noon.
This is a chart I cut out of an old "Turkey & Turkey Hunting" magazine years ago. This shows the most productive time zones.

I read stats like this all the time, however, where I hunt in Texas...I don't see or hear anything after 9:30 or so. I have absolutely no luck during this time. the best times I have expierenced is either early, early in the morning or late near sunset. I have always figured that it has something to do with the hot days in Texas...but not sure.

We have to stop at noon here, and most of my hunting comes before work - so naturally flydown is my favorite time of day. Besides, nothing beats hearing 10-20 birds sounding off in unison on a foggy morning as the first glimmers of light start casting through the treetops...

The acoustics in that thick morningfog are completely amazing - sometimes I'd swear that you can hear those gobbles reverberating in your chest...

BD - good luck this spring - I know you'll drop the hammer on a big bird.

Thanks quick, I sure hope so. This will be my first Spring hunting turkeys, and I am going to make it even harder by doing it with my bow. Cant wait for May 3rd thru the 8th.:D

I always get out there before 1st light, but its never done me any good, my 2 toms and 3 jakes were all taken 10am - 1pm.

Note: on 100acres private I can't put them to bed, they don't roost on the property.

I have had good luck at all different times of the day but the most have come early to mid-morning. I think the best time is whatever time you can be out there even if you don't take a bird!!! Hunting is sometimes about what you see not what you shoot, in my opinion! One of the best days I had last year I didn't even get a shot, but I got to watch a great show. First, I got to watch a good fight, then an hour later I got to watch a tom work and mount three hens... all while the losing tom watched! I learned a lot about turkeys that day.

Like others have said, here in Missouri we can only hunt til 1 pm. I wish we could hunt all day because many times I've been out watching fields to see where the birds are roosting and see big toms out strutting. Fun to watch but man it sure is frustrating when they dont cooperate the next day.:D

My first bird I shot was 10 mins after the season opened. They extended the hunting hours this year. For instance it used to be 5:30 lights out, now ( I'll use my period times) it opens at 4:48- 8:151st day
4:47 - 8:17 2nd day
4:46 - 8:18 3rd day
4:45 - 8:19 4th day
4:44 - 8:20 5th day

Longer your in the woods the better your chance at bagging a bird.
