Chokes For Mossberg 835?
I am not a gun hunter,I only hunt turkeys with a bow so I need some advice on chokes. For Christmas I bought my husband a Mossberg 835 12 Gauge along with some Winchester 3 inch 6 shot, high velocity turkey loads. The shotgun came with a full choke. Is a full choke recommended for this setup for turkey hunting or do I need to buy additional chokes, modified etc? Thanks.

I have a Hastings .685 choke in mine. Combined with 3.5' Winchester High Velocity Turkey Load #4s I couldn't be happier. I won't do it again---but I took 2 longbeards last year beyond 50 yards. IMHO I think you need to get a tighter choke for turkeys. Mossberg makes a turkey choke for the 835---an Ulti-full. Its constriction is .695. There are several excellent after market chokes available---but I would certainly recommend a turkey choke of some sort.

I would recommend getting either the Mossberg turkey choke or an aftermarket choke. I have a Comp-n-choke in my 835 and use winchester 6 shot, the combination is as good as I have ever seen.
The worst day in the Turkey woods Is by far, more fun, than the best day of any thing else I have ever done.

I would have to say tru glo stru stoper. Its cheap but seams to pattern very well. I have tried it with the loads you mentioned and had favorable results. Several people on this board have 835 with SS chokes, all seam to like it.
