RE: Improve cylinder choke?
Thanks guys, I did try to pattern the gun and let me tell you, the pattern sucks. I can only get close to 10 pellets of #4 shots in the turkey's neck at 20 yards, I try 30 yards and the pattern open up even more, don't even ask how many pellets hit the target. I never try to pattern #6 shells but I don't think it's gonna bethat muchbetter. I don't think I'm gonna hunt like this. Looks like my other choice is to get my barrel alter to take screw-in-chokes and doesn't cost as much as getting a new barrel for my gun.

RE: Improve cylinder choke?
well you tried...
now..you can try to borrow a gun..or like you said..any good gunsmith can tap your barrel to allow it to accept choke tubes. shouldnt cost all toooo much. then get yourself a good turkey choke and pattern it. good luck |
RE: Improve cylinder choke?
Sounds like somebody has a lot of home work to do before hitting the turkey woods...
I hope you don't hunt heavily hunted public land... If you do make sure you identify your target;) |

RE: Improve cylinder choke?
thats too bad about your pattern, mabe you should look into a NEF single shot ? if you only need a turkey gun they arent too pricey. I know a couple of guys that wanted to get into the sport and just wanted a gun for turkey without going broke, a full camo NEF 10 ga. ran him 185.00 ( little too much recoil for me but hes a big boy ) says he will never part with it. another guy had a gift card from walmart from christmas, went down and got himself a mossburg 500 for 180.00 12 ga. 3 in. mag 28" barrel with the screw in chokes, bought himself an aftermarket turkey choke ( undertaker ) and he was good to go. good luck wich ever way you go.... and leave a few for us
