Mouth calls are easy and effective. I love them.

My favorite call is the one I was using right before I pulled the trigger.

In order of preference, a Friction callsuch as the "pot" type of calls: Slate, Glass, Aluminum, etc., then the mouth call, followed by the box.
I always start offwith either a "pot" call or a box, then finish the game with a mouth call.

I'll start off working both a mouth and slate-glass call. When the tom gets close it's a mouth call all the way. My absolute favorite is the mouth call though. I very seldom use a box. Maybe on windy days only. Not knocking them, just don't use them much.

I use them all. Some birds like different calls. More than once I've had a tom not answer me w/one call and I'd grab another one and he'd practically come runnin' to me. If I had to say I "prefer" a callit wouldprobably be a mouth call simply for lack of movement purposes and versatility.

I think that it is important to know how to use all the calls. It makes you more dynamic, along with giving you more options!
My personal favorite is a friction or pot call. A close 2nd is the mouth call.
Cant go wrong!

I would have to tend to agree...I seem to lean toward the slate call most of the time and then as the bird gets closer, I switch to a mouth call. I always, always have a mouth call in. You never know when a gobbler might come around a corner!
