I don't think that a long barrel makes that much difference. I like to use a short barrel, It's alot more easy for me to carry on long hikes. I think choke is mroe important than barrel lengh.

I've shot the same barrel out of my particular gun I'm using now for about the last 15 years with good results!31inch!I reload my own shells and the powder I use to charge my load is extremely slow burning. To get maximum performance i like the longer barrel for cleaner more efficient burning loads. This gives me the capability to max out a particular loads fps.But I usually back the charge off a bit as this will tighten up the pattern substantially.BT I was wondering by shortening up the barrel has it increased your recoil at all??<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

Adrian,The pattern didn't change a whole lot after I got it cut down.I f anything it's a little better. One downfall to a short barrel is if ya don't bury your cheek into the stock you'll have a tendency to shoot high.Alot of guys solve that problem with a scope or rifle sights.Get it done. You'll love it.

i have a 28 inch barrel on my beretta with a 1.5 inch maddmax choke, it brings it to 29.5 inches. i like looking down that long barrel
while i'm waiting for that tom to appear. it may just be the gun, i don't know for sure. but it just feels right when i have it up on my shoulder and cheek. the gun balances very well with that longer barrel. oh but getting back to your question bosstom, no i would'nt cut it down. mama always said "if it ain't broke don't fix it. besides if you are as confident with it as i am with mine, why risk
messing up your turkey gun.

I prefer the stock barrel on my Moss 835 over my 870 barrel, for turkey and waterfowl hunting. I'm not sure how long it is, but, it's not short.

Dnag, BT!! Maytom's right. With a bayonette on that thing, you could have him field dressed by the time he hit the ground!
Nice looking rig, though. I just had a polychoke cut off an extra barrel down to 21 inches for my Ithica. I like it better short.
