Heaviest bird was just barely under 24 lb, longest beard went 12 1/4" and thick, and the longest spur was 1 1/2" with the other side broken off at around 3/4". Too bad I've never killed one bird that had all of these characteristics. Honestly I'm with the camp that thinks they're all trophies, though. Scoring turkeys will lead us down that slippery slope that deer hunting has gone and you'll begin to hear stupid statements like...
We don't kill anything with less than a 12 in beard... Don't shoot that 19 lb 2yr old, let him grow up some... That would've been a nice bird next year... Dang, he only had a 9 in beard...

11 3/4" beard
LS: 1 1/2" RS: 1 5/8"

First turkey I ever killed. Shot him on my 18th birthday, April 19, 2001.

I killed my 30th bird this past spring and have yet to best that first one. I have killed birds with longer beards, and have killed birds that weighed more, but as far as overall size and quality of all the NWTF scoring aspects, he is #1 for me still.

I shot my best gobbler this past spring with black powder. 11" beard, 1 1/2" spurs and 20 lbs. I shot it Memorial Day. Earlier in the spring he had 2" spurs and weighed a few pounds more. He was in my son's yard everyday breeding the hens. The unique thing about this gobbler is that he has six white barred tail feathers in the center of the tail. We have been after this bird for over four years.
