Hi my name is walter. I am an avid bowhunter and fairly rounded when it comes to deer. The only reason id like to start turkey hunting is i come into contact with them more than deer. Just curious on what calls or tactics can be passed on so i can get one. What kind of terrain is ideal.
My situation is i have 20 acres of hardwoods in woodstock IL>Mchenry county.I see them in groups of ten-fifteen, almost everyday.

i would set me up a pop up ground blind where you see them all the time and wait. another tactic would be to bust up the flock and call them back in. only 20 acres may spook them off your property. especially if that boss hen starts calling off that 20 acres somewhere

It sounds to me like you need to just buy a turkey tag. If you are seeing them, from the stand, just keep doing what your doing!
Many a fall turkey has been shot by a bowhunting "deer hunter"!
Good luck!
