Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Looking for Kansas Outfitter

I posted awhile back about looking for a hunt in Texas. I've changed my mind and would like to go to Kansas. Reason being is that they have both Rio's and Eastern's. I would love to be able to kill two birds with one stone (so to speak). Do you guys have any ideas for an outfitter in Kansas. A self-guided type hunt would be just fine and there would be at least 4 of us. I would like to find one for under $750. Thanks for the help.

Does the El Dorado area have both Rio's and Eastern's? Public or Private land?

They have both.. I hunt public land.... Its better than payin a guide. Forums like this should be an area to share an opportunity as well. I'm not the biggest fan of guides. The area I hunt is along the edge of El Dorado Lake. For the most part... its Easterns. Rio's have been shot in the area, but not by me. I invite just about anyone who wants to do some kansas hunting to get ahold of me... Hell, I'll take ya out. I dont charge either... I just want to hunt.

I've been think about hunting around the Rose Hill area. My girlfriend is from there and wants to go back for spring break. Maybe we should talk. How is the area around El Dorado?

Just so you understrand if there are both Easterns and Rio's in an area the NWTF will not register them as True breeds, they would consider them hybrids. Just a thought if you are looking for a true Rio. Contact me if you are looking for a true rio hunt. Pat

So basically I should stay away from Kansas just to be safe?

Actually we have true rio hunts, which occur in Phillips county near Philipsburg KS. The NWTF does recognise the birds there as true RIOS.

Turkeys are readily available throughout much of Kansas. They're becoming a nussaince insome areas. If you have the time, hunting public lands will produce plenty of opportunities to be successful.
