05 Gobbler Mount back.
Picked up my 05 gobbler mount. This is the bird I took last year and missed the first two times I hunted him. Here's a link to the story and here's the mount.http://www.rivervalleygamecalls.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=83
This is not where the bird will hang. I hung him here to take some pics, he's going to hang above my log stairs. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

A job well done Rob,
Your taxidermy did a very nice job on the bird , looks great. Now you need to hang some racks off that light in the room to give it someinset to the house ;). You have a fantasic place my friend ...BT |

RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
Nice mount Rob.
I was going to have my Rio mounted like that only to have my taxidermist get busted for fraud. Now I just hope to get the bird back so I can take it somewhere else. Thetrial is coming up soon. Maybe your taxidermist? |
RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
That turkey looks perfect by the stairs!! They did a nice job on the mount. The turkeys that are hard to get always make a better mount and story.

RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
good one, congrat

RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
Real nice indeed
I really like the flying mount it shows every detail of the bird, nice colors and it displays the beard real good. CONGRATS ROB. |
RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
Thanks everyone, that makes number two as far as a mount. When I built this house I intended to fill her up with beauty....including my new bride, lol.
This years bird is getting done full strut and now I need a full upright standing gobbler. That mount has to be a good thicked bearded, long spur'd king of spring to look real good. Wish me luck on that one..lol Wags, My taxidermist, Laylon prides himself on his birds. Thanks again guys and gals... |
RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.

RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
Nice mount...
I will be mounting my two birds this fall... I plan on doing a flying mount also but my mount will be hanging from the ceiling with fishing line... I think it gives a more realistic flying pose... Never really liked the flying pose were the bird looks like a 747 that just missed his landing spot:D |
RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
Outstanding!!
|
RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
Rob, that's my next turkey mount as well, the Flying mount!!! I love the way this mount looks on the wall, as long as you have the room!!
My taxidermist mentioned to me last year that the perfect gobbler for this type of mount is a Fall gobbler. He stated that after the summer molt, the Fall gobbler will have a new complete set of feathers heading into the winter. This is why he prefers a Fall gobbler to be used for the flying turkey mounts. I have to admit, sounds like an awesome idea to me. Congrats again old boyon another beauty wall mount!!;) |
RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
Maytom, that actually makes sense.

RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
Thanks Rob, that is also the pic I use for my desktop. It is me standing next to my ole truck during a photo shoot.Spring Gobbler season of 05 we had a writers convention, sponsored by Hunter Specialties(one of our sponsors) and Winchester, and Thompson Center. One of the writers had me go with him to pose with all the sponsors gear..lol He ended up taking about 500 photos, all angles and variations. Using differant calls: box, mouth, and slates. Loading the winchester shells into the TC Omega, making sure to see all the names and brands..lol It took about 3-4 hrs. Then he sent me a disk with all the pics on it. When I downloaded it it dang near sent my ole puter into shock..lol Each pic was about 2000k or so.

RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
Nice Mount Rob, and nice place too, is that home or the hunting lodge?
I'm originally from Southwestern PA (live in WI) now, but I do get to Warren County (Youngsville) a time or two each year to my cousins hunting camp there. Usually either spring turkey or the rifle deer season. Where abouts is Muncy in the state? Again congrats on the bird, sure is a great mount! Hootnscoot |
RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
thanks guys,
hootnscoot, that place is both, it's my home and my hunting lodge. ;) Thanks, Muncy is in Lycoming Co..actually I'm born and raised and live outside Hughesville...Look for Williamsport, home of the Little League World Series. |
RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
Nice mount , that does take up alot of room. Looks like you have a big wall. The kind taxidermists like. Hope you fill it up.

RE: 05 Gobbler Mount back.
