I have a few questions as scouting for me begins tomorrow: I have heard mixed theories on how to scout fall turkeys. First, will an owl hoot work for putting the birds in roost at night?

Second, how should one navigate the woods when scouting in day or night (in the day should you wear all cammo and sit and listen and at night is it ok to carry a flashlight). And is it ok to simply scout by taking a casual walk through the woods with a buddy (talking,etc)?

And last, during open season, what are the best calls to start out with and at what times (i.e owl hoot before sun-up, crow call during the day, etc, etc)?

I am new to the sport as you can probably tell and any help would be great.

I greatly appreciate the feedback. This site is great, it is absolutely awesome to know that there are this many turkey hunters out there using forums like this one just to share pointers, or just to shoot the perverbial. I think I will be a regular here.
