IF rimfire hunting is allowed in your state which would be a better choice and why,the .17 hmr or the .22 mag?

I would go for the .17 HMR. I've had better luck with downrange accuracy and knockdown power than with the .22 Mag. Just my $.02

thats kinda what i was thinking but i didnt know if the 17 had enough weight to get through the feathers.i know cci makes those explosive bullets that would probably do well at reasonable ranges.anyone else have anything?

stay away from explosive bullets for body shots! you wont get in passed the bone and meat! with such a small light weight bullet....id stick to head shots myself.....thats just me...

Definately head shots. Body shots are too marginal. At least with the head if you hit your mark but hit the head it will die. If you shoot the body and don't hit it just right it may not die. Shoot for the head and you won't have any problems.
