Was thinking about getting a new turkey gun... All of my guns are 3" and shoot great. This new gun just so happens to be a 3.5"...
Just wondering if anybody has a 3.5 that patterns better with 3" shells

Ken, the only 3 1/2" gun I ever owned was one of the very first Mossberg 835's when they first came out. And after shooting that pump gun only 9 times, I sold it and went to the 1300!! Brutal recoil!![:-]

I have an 835 and love it, but never fired a 3 1/2" out of it. Seems crazy but got it for wing shooting, but turned it into a nice turkey gun. Has dropped all my birds and one other with 3" shells, so never saw a reason to use 3 1/2" shells......[8D]so i guess it goes to what you want. If you want 3 1/2 go for it, yet, if you have had success with 3" then if it were me, I would stick with 3". I guess I think of the many toms that have fallen to 2 3/4" so IMHO what is the need for more then a 3"?

I have a 835 ,one of the first ones and love it . This year i tried the 3 1/2 and found it did do better. But I shot alot with the 3" shells . I did some field hunting this year and wanted that extra shot incase I needed to reach out alittle further. I still dont try to shoot over 45 yds though. The recoil is tough but you can handle it for one shot. When I pattern the gun I put a towel orpadding on my shoulder because with alot of shots you will feel it. Ialways kinda shyed away from 3 1/2 because of whatI herd but not anymore. Its like the guys that tell you when you shoot a 44 magnum handgun it will rip your arm off what a bunch of crap I own one.
