3rd Day of Season, 2nd bird down.
#1
I'm a turkey magnet this year.
Yesterday we heard one bird all day but pulled a hen in. They just weren't talking. This morning we went back out to the spot we started at with the WNEP TV guys. That morning we pulled 3 longbeards to 100 yards when a hen stole them from us.
That didn't happen this morning. They were gobblin as we walked in and set up. They sounded off almost continuous all morning and we figured they were alone and strutin. We picked up and moved tighter. We kept them located with the calls and when we figured we were as close as we could get we set back up. I had Nate, my friend (he is the husband to the woman we had in front of the camera for the WNEP TV show) set out in front of me and me sitting back with the camera. We're getting footage for Vol III of River Valley Game Call's HeadHunters series. They were still gobblin after setting up and it wasn't long until we had them fired up. We then decided to sit quiet and let them hunt us. Suddenly there they were about 100 yards and closing and sure enough, the 3 were without hens, gobblin, spitt'n and drum'n and coming. It took a while and I was watching the clock as both of us needed to make work by eight. Closer still they strutted when I gave the command, "anytime" and Nate cut at them, they gobbled and stuck their heads out and booooommm....muzzle blast and a bird lay flopping. We did some post shot videoing and headed out to make work on time. It was a great day and hopefully some entertaining footage for volume III.

Thanks guys and we should have killed one this morning too. He came in shotgun range but the wrong way and wouldn't stick his head over the knoll. We'll be at it tomorrow.
