New Forum User and My First Turkey
I started turkey hunting this year, (little in fall with no success). Got my first Turkey on Sunday by Manhattan, KSon public land. Called him in with a box call. This was my fourth total day of hunting, but I had him 20 minutes after I got set up and started calling. Bird weighed 24 pounds, field dressed, so probably was 25 to 26 pounds before, left and right spurs were both 1.5 inches, and beard was 9.5 inches. I got stopped right after I gutted him by a fish and wildlife officer, who checked my license, permit and turkey, he said he was 6 years old and the spurs were longer than any he'd seen or personally taken. Had I known he was that good, I wouldn't have field dressed him and had him weighed officially, probably mounted. I was so exited thatI forgot the pole to me decoy and my binoculars, but I didn't want to walk back 2 miles to get them. I'll get them next time I go out.
I wish I had found this site earlier to participate in the contest. Next year, I'm hooked on turkey hunting!

Great first bird, congrats. I only see one spur though. If you are going to gut a bird weigh him first so you can get a true weight. Now you really don't know how much he weighed and he can't be scored. One or two spurs, field dressed or not, he is still a great bird.
