Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default My First Turkey

Well I got my first turkey this morning. What a rush it is. I set up in the end of a freshly plowed field with my decoys out and heard a turkey gobble on the roost about 150 yds behind me. I gave him a few soft yelps but no answer. I heard him hit the ground and gobble again, much closer this time. I gave a few more calls and he gobbled. I shut up as I thought he was working his way toward me. Next thing I know he gobbles about 80 yds right of me on the edge of the field. He worked his way towards the decoys right into range and I didn't have to use any calls. Shot him at 28 steps. Probably one of the easier turkey hunts I'll have. He was a 16 pound jake with a 5 inch beard and little nub spurs but I could care less how big he was. I can't wait for next week to have a chance at a bigger bird.

Not a bad pic for running the camera off a timer.

I'm hopelessly hooked.[8D][8D]

Oh yes.
The best part was that I did it all on my own. I couldn't have had a better day.

There's nothing like having them bird's gobble at your call's or as they're coming in ,it just send's a chill up my spine every time it happen's .
I got a jake this morning myself ,it's the first jake I've ever taken ,was lookin for an ole long beard ,but my deep fryer was callin and I thought this guy would fit it perfectly.
I'll go out next week after the big boy ,and i guess I'll do it with a bow from here on in.
Congrat's to you Mo bowhunter ,nothing wrong with a jake .

Very Nice.

One of the real great things about turkey hunting over a lot of other types of hunting is that the animals talk back. Where else can you play Dr. Dolittle without people thinking your a nut job.

Congratulations.
