Well guys.. went out to my property for the youth hunt.. hunted all day saturday and seen probable close to 200 birds almost had a huge tom but some guys screwed it up fer me.. had a lot of shots at like 20 yards on jakes... but yenno first day might as well be a little picky..so, sunday morning.. im out at butt crack talked to a bunch seen a lot of deer grouse rabbits a little of everything i seen... seen a huge flock but it wasnt even worth chasing. birds were a little spooked.. from pressure of scouters and day before hunters... so went back for lunch, then out again i went... i rode about 5 miles up the road on my birtbike and located a good flock.. about 20 birds with 7 or 8 good birds in it.. well, my friction calls were wet.. so they didnt quite work in the pouring rain.. so.. i had to put the stock on em... every time i blew my crow call 8 different gobbles from the woods lit up.. i heard a real good gobble in the path that i was heared... so down on my belly i go.. snow and slush and pouring rain.. couldnt be better... crawled about 200 yards then what do ya kno... 2 jakes and about 8 hens standing there lookin my way... so i paused for about 15 minutes... then got on to my knees.. thick brush around me and birds all over the place.. i sat there like a stump for about 10 minutes with hens infront of me... then out of the corner of my eye i seen movement.. i turn and look.. there he is 7 yards away... turned and pulled and his head... badabing badaboom.. so, there is my first tag filled... 24lbs double six inch beard. not too bad for a youth hunt first time caller.. well.. post ur stories guys..
