Default Travis strikes Again

Well,up until this past week it hasnt been much of a Turkey Season for this bunch. Travis and I made the opening day here in La up at my dad's. Wasnt alot of activity that Saturday,,,, After eating supper that nightI felt like someone had clubbed me up side the head with an Easton Baseball bat.. Spent half the night in the Emergency room sucking down penicillin. I had to have all 4 wisdom teeth cut out the following Tuesday.. Got back on me feet well enough to head to west Tx for 4 days to chase some Rio's. Arrived late Saturday 4/15 and did a little unproductivescouting for the next morning. Went in Sunday morning, set up close to an old roost that had produced several birds in thepast and got ready, daylight brings 3 toms singing about 300 yds to our right and I felt pretty good about them coming into our set up. Two of them pitched out pretty early into a big field across the fence and set up camp gobbling at everything including the cows and sheep.... They were still several hundred yards away from us and cutting us off with every call. We sat it out for about 30-40 minutes and decided to make a move and try and cut the distance on them. We backed off and got into an old creek bed and got within 75-100 yds of them,,,, they were still on the other side of the fence thou when I glassed them but they were alone... Not a hen in sight but the show they were putting on you would have thought the were dancing for a queen.. I put Travis in front of me in under a big ole Cedar and we started cutting and yelping.. Made about three calls and the race was on. They made it to the fence and put on one heck of a show and I realized they werent coming over it... I hated to do it but told the knot head if they get within arms distance of the fence to put it on em... They moved to our left and I started purring, they came back into view and I could see the ole Tom stretching his neck out to find his lady and I heard Boooom... Travis rolled em about 3 ft from the fence.....
