It's illegal to hunt turkeys over bait in Alabama, too. As well it should be. That's not turkey hunting. That's turkey shooting. Why don't you just grab your rifle, jump in your truck, and bust one off the road. It will be just as rewarding. Good luck.[:@][:'(][

Yes, that's a feeder, but it has been empty since March 1st. What do you think I am? [&o] Is there anywhere that allows you to "bait" turkeys? I would expect not.

They bait them in Texas. I paid over $800 for a Rio hunt there last year. The birds were really hened up bad and the onlypeople killing turkeys were hunting over roads that had been "chummed" with corn. They couldnt understand why the Iowa boys wouldnt go sit by the corn and shoot gobblers. We left for home 2 days early. That isnt hunting to me. As bad as I wanted to kill my first Rio I wasnt about to shoot him over bait.

That's a great testimony to the fact that "The Hunt" in turkey hunting is much more important than the "kill". The interaction with an excited Tom, the drama, the walking in the woods, the hunting for sheds while the birds aren't talking, all of it is such an importantpart of why we love to do it. If it were all about the kill, I doubt there'd be such a following.
