Do any of you know what causes beard rot?

I seen on a turkey hunting show that poor nutriction
Causes it.
The beards lood like they have been sinched by a fire.
Poor nutriction causes the fibers in there beard to be brittle.
And they just break off.

I think this is what you are talking about.

Have to agree it is diet that effects it and if I remember right lack of melanin or something like that. It gets britle and breaks off. In Northern New York where it can get awful cold in winter, it is the beard freezing, I think, and causes some of them to break off at the tips.[8D]
