how to use owl hoot tube?
Hi all,
I recently bought a H.S. Strut Palmers Hoot Tube and was disappointed to discover there are no directions with it..I tried hooting "who cooks for you" and it doesn't sound at all like an owl! The tone is all wrong. Anyone have any suggestions on how to use a owl hoot call? This one has a reed in it if that matters. Thanks!

Not sure what the problem is. At the turkey seminar that I just went to they demonstrated one and he just blew into the one hole and did the "Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you all?" thing. Maby it just takes practice.[&:]

Some of em are just tubes that you blow in...they're kinda airy sounding and not real throaty. Doing the "who cooks for you" should work, but it's not real loud.
The owl call I got has a reed in it that vibrates. It's a bit louder...and I do the same thing with it. I guess whether it sounds good to us or not, it'll sound good enough to the turkey, to get it to gobble.
