Shotgun advice
:DThis is a rossi combo 30-06,12 gauge shotgun. i was wondering would this be a good turkey hunting shotgun:D?
|
RE: Shotgun advice
If you can get it in full choke it would be OK. I believe it comes with a modified barrel.
|
RE: Shotgun advice
so what does that mean if its in modified choke? i cant use it?
|
RE: Shotgun advice
It means a modified choke will not shoot as tight a patternas a full choke.
|
RE: Shotgun advice
Personally, I wouldn't buy any shotgun that didn't come with screw in chokes. If you want a single shot, look at the NEF's. I bought a NEF 10ga this Christmas. I love it. It is going to be my primary turkey gun this year. You can buy different barrels for it just like a TC Encore for 1/3 of the price.

RE: Shotgun advice
so does that mean i can't use it?[>:]if its modified?
|
RE: Shotgun advice
G O N, with the right turkey load you could use it but you have to have the turkeys much much closer than with a tighter patterning gun....get the right turkey load and let the birds come in close, pattern the gun and know your limitations with it and abide by them distance whys.

RE: Shotgun advice
PERSONALLY.... I would say get another gun.
I mean, it would work, but I wouldn't do it myself. I agree that getting them close is 99% of the reason I hunt and with someone with more experience than you have i would say they could use it better. but with a new person. their finger gets too itchy. just get another gun with screw in chokes and a COMMON THREAD pattern. |
RE: Shotgun advice
thanks for the info. so maybe from 20 -30 yards maybe kill a turkey?or 10-20?
|
RE: Shotgun advice
Contact Rossi and see if they have chokes for that gun. Also try larger shot like size 4s. they may work for you out to 35 or 40 yards. your gun will kill as good as any with the right load and choke.
