Locating turkey

what do you look for to find turkey in areas you have not hunted before?

Ok...you want to look for feathers and droppings. If you are finding them in the woods under trees..this is where they are roosting. If you are finding them near water..thats where they are drinking..and look for traks too..and watch which direction the majority of them arepointing so it will give u a general idea of where to set up. Lots of feather found in a field could be a strutting area..where they might be fighting also. In the spring..u want to concentrate on "strutting zones" and also on roosting areas but dont set up to close to a roost.

I agree with countrymudder. You can also go to the woods before daybreak and listen for gobbles or them to fly off the roost. You can also do this in the evening when they fly up to roost. Get in the woods and get to know it. As it gets warmer use a locator call such as an owl hooter crow call or coyote call.
