Treestands For Turkey

Do you think that a treestand would work for turkey hunting ?
Where I hunt turkey it is so thick you can't,
See over 10 to 15 foot.
So I am thinking a treestand would work.

What do yall think ?

Thank You

You are better off on the ground. Turkeys are always on the lookout for eagles and hawks. Movement is harder to hide. They will pick you out in a tree faster than on the ground.

Turkeys from a treestand is very difficult as it is very easy for them to pick you out. Like said above, your better off on the ground where you can stay mobile.

If it is that thick I doubt you would be able to successfully call a tom into that mess.

Last spring I had two coming from two different
Directions.
They were drumming one was coming from the left.
And one was coming from the right.
And the both hung up.
It sounded like they were about 40 to 50 yards.
But I couldn't see either of them.
Then it sounded like some hens came by and they left after them.

Hopefully it will be better this spring.

I would do some clearing if It was me. I wouldnt hunt from a treestand. Like the others said its too easy for them to see you.

I think you would really be better off on the ground. I've shot one out of a tree with a bow while deer hunting and I'm suprised I was able to. Most of the time they spot me way too soon out of a tree.

Turkeys look up all the time.
I agree. A turkey will spot that "blob" up ina treea lot easier than when set-up on the ground against a large tree. Then try to make a move on that bird while up ina tree.;)

not sure how it will work, but on fort drum cantonment, you can only use tree stands and bows, so i am looking forward to trying, doubt there will be too many folks!
