HERNDON, Pa. -- A Richfield man shot by another hunter outside Herndon, in Northumberland County, last week remains hospitalized at Geisinger Medical Center in critical condition.
The state Game Commission said the man who shot him will lose his hunting license and could be fined.
Officials said Scott Schreffler shot David Adams in the woods outside Herndon on Thursday. Schreffler told the commission he thought Adams' orange hat was a turkey.
Adams was hit in the face, torso and leg by the shotgun blast.

I'm telling ya. I look like a moron but before I crest a hill or rise I pull my orange flag out of my vest and put it on top of my head. I fell like a dork but I fell safe when I walk in the woods...

Ya know, it simply amazes me how people mistake a person for an animal. Orange or no orange, its no excuse. I have come across people in my hunting party who didn't have any orange on and the last thing that crossed my mind was "oh, thats a deer!" or "oh thats a turkey!". Don't you have to AIM for a vital area on game to make a good shot?
Stupid, absolutely stupid. They shouldn't allow him to have a license at all.
