Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

I feel blessed having heard over 100+ gobbles on two separate occasions....! (been out 7-8 times total, called in three birds, took one, other three shot by buddies)

It seems somewhat sporadic here in CT, and much of that has to do with hunting pressure and the weather. We have had an unusual amount of pressure changes this season, with multiple fronts moving through a region, not only in a week, but sometimes during the same day. This really plays havoc with the birds.

The actual weather, though, has been pretty cooperative, with moderate spring-like temperatures and average rainfall. Opening day I counted 12 different gobblers, on 200 acres, and that doesn't include the hill across the street, where I'm sure there were even more that I couldn't hear. The first week and a half the birds were quite vocal, most of the morning.

I hunt one property where there are loads of birds, but it gets hunted almost every day by somebody. Hence, by the beginning of this week, the birds were pretty much tight-lipped. I managed to work a bird in last Tuesday, but there was only one gobble on the roost (which wasn't him), and this bird gobbled hard at 7am and basically ran into the gunblast at 7:15 (see the thread entitled "Off the snide").

I've been out twice more, Thursday never heard anything, although I did call in a hen and another coyote. This season I've called in 2 yotes, 1 fisher, and had a red fox stalking me Thursday afternoon while scouting. Yesterday morning was special, I'll have a separate thread on that later tonight . Gotta get the kid ready for a b-day party now.
