Default Another Longbeard down!

Well tagged out on Friday May 13th! Who says it's unlucky?

Hooked up for an afternoon hunt with none other than our own Adrian J. Hare of Quaker Boy Game calls!

A great spot and stalk hunt that took us sneaking across one pasture field, crawling across the next pasture field, and belly crawling through the tree line along a corn feild where 2 longbeards and 2 jakes were feeding. At our first set up I had a huge 4 foot wide tree to my left blocking my view of the birds. BT watched from a different angle on the other side of the tree to give the heads up when they were coming to me. Had the 2 jakes walk out from behind the tree 10 yds in front of me. Seemed like forever but finally the 2 longbeards made thier way into my sight at about 15-20yds. Unfortuneately they were sparring and pretty much joined at the neck. A whole minute or two right in front of me and they NEVER seperated to get a clean shot on one. Eventually they walked back up the corn field beyond the tree out of sight. [:@]

We lost sight of them and worried they had spotted something and run off. A little crawl up the tree line and BT spotted one right in the tree line with us! It seems the jakes ran off so the gobblers moved out of the wind and nestled in for a little nap. He was sitting on a log with his head buried in his chest. Looked like a stump or bag of garbage. Had no turkey shape or head to be seen. BT had spotted his head initally and knew the black blob was the bird. One cluck on the box call and a red head popped up inot my red dot. BOOM. A nice old 5 yr old. It'll be hard to top this bad boy in terms of getting an old gobbler! Thanks BT and fellow Team 7 member!

Stats for team 7 are :

21.34 lbs

L spur 1 1/2 "

R spur 1 1/8" (broken)

Beard 8"

Total Score 63.59
