Suggestions for a good trail camera?
 

I am trying to decide on what trail camera to buy that isn't too expensive but good quality. I am buying it for my fiance as a gift and am not too sure what to go with. I am pretty sure he is not too concerned with video just good pictures and to last a while. I have seen so many mixed reviews between Cuddeback and Bushnell. Any suggestions are much obliged!

Welcome to the forums. Your fiance is a lucky man for you to be willing to buy him a gift that will probably become a very addictive hobby. I don't know how much you want to spend but a great place to research nearly all the cameras is www.chasingame.com. In the $200 range the 2011 Bushnell is a good choice. If you want to spend less, I would say the Wildgame Innovations X6C is a good choice. Also check out the Moultrie M100 or M80, two new cameras on the market this year that are getting good reviews. Almost any of the Scoutguards are solid and the Primos cams are getting good reviews. If money is not an issue, the Reconyx is hands down the best camera made but those are in the range of $450-$550. I just ordered a second Moultrie D 55 IR for around a $100 it is hard to beat . I have had the first one for a year now and it has taken great pictures it has been out in the elements non stop for a year second set of batteries . I Highly recomend it :biggrin:

I have had great luck with my Cuddeback captures, I paid 200 for mine but with the new Cudde's out I have seen the capture for 150, a great price imo.

What's your budget? "Good quality but not too expensive" doesn't really tell us.
I would stick with the $200 range off cams and I'm sure you'll be happy.
I have a Scoutguard and Cuddeback Capture that were both in that rang and they are about 4yrs old now and without any issues.

If I was going to go out and buy another store bought cam, I woiuld get another Cuddeeback Capture flash cam. I have had 3, and have loved them all.

Thank you so much to everyone for your replies! I believe I am going to go with the Scout Guard 550. I found it for a close out price of 131 at Midway; which is awesome considering the camo goes for 200 on their site. I love the fact that this has a built in viewer and such good reviews. Thanks for the help again! Hope it stands up to the reputation : )

Great choice, I have the scoutguard sg550 in camo and it is simply awesome. It has everything you want in a trail cam. Compact, relible, fast trigger, nice pics and long battery life. Scoot

Congrats, I have heard good things about the scoutguard.

SG's are great cams. Mine is going on 5yrs now and still doing great.
It like Energizer Lithiums batteries and Kingston SD cards.
