Default Spring sets?

Hi All!

Spring sets, where do you guys have the best luck?
What type of attractant is best?

I've had 2 cameras out now for about 3 weeks, maybe 20 pics total.

Have one over a mineral lick placed on a ridge saddle, always a good fall time funnel.

Have the other cam set at the top of a steep draw, another fall time funnel.

First year I've tried spring time sets, and I'm getting whooped

Thanks for any advice

I always use alot of minerals in the spring and it seems to work for me. If it's a place where you've gotten alot of action in the past, just stick with it. They'll show up sooner or later.

I bought some minerals in a bag for like 7.00. I just put them out. I was told to mix it with salt and it would do better but I am getting pictures from it. Not as many as with a feeder. I just do not like feeder shots if I can stay away from them.

I did move a cam that was out and I only got 1 picture in 2 weeks so it happens. Like Pastor Jim says keep at it.

Thanks for the replies.

Some more questions regarding minerals/blocks.

Salt or mineral block, which?
Should they be placed in moist soil areas, does it matter?
Leave blocked, or crushed and worked into soil?

The block in the pic, is it a salt block or a mineral block?
I'm not sure, didn't have a label and all I did was walk in feeder supply and asked for a mineral block.
My friend says it's a brown salt block,.
If it is a salt block, should I replace it with a true mineral block?

On a side note, my Moultrie was stolen last week

I have better luck with trace mineral blocks. They are cheaper than salt blocks at my local MFA. They are reddish brown. That one in the pic is a trace mineral block.
I just put them in the same place everytime and forget about them other than placing my cam on them.

I use RAKS deer mineral and have had great success. I also use a couple of feeders in the spring with Double Lung Outdoors Massive 40 protein pack mixed with corn. What I have been told is put out a couple of mineral spots because some will be used and some won't. Determine which ones are and keep mineral there. I've checked cams year with cam #1 having 880, 1300 and 1880 pics; cam #2 having 1330 and cam #3 having 330. Stick with it and they will come!
