Default 2014 Trophy Cam HD Exploding Batteries

I may have had the batteries in for a total of 5 minutes while I was working my way through the manual and the setup procedures when I heard a loud pop...looked over and one of the batteries had burst and was bubbling fluid out the seam. The battery in line with the one that burst (cover was split on this first one) is still bubbling out the top, so I suspect the two of them went together. I had triggered one picture from the setup menu. I've never witnessed anything like this before. They were Kirkland Signature batteries...going out to buy a different brand before I give this another try...have read some poor reviews on this brand of AA batteries.

I cleaned up the case, put some new Duracell alkaline batteries in the cam, used a different SD memory card...and set it out back for the night. Took some photos of a skunk that came through and had no further battery problems. I chalked it up to the Kirkland batteries and the micro-SD card that I had in one of the SD card holders. I did return the camera to Bass Pro, informed them I had some batteries explode, and that I was reconsidering my purchase.

I decided to try the same camera and ordered it online for $50 less than what I had paid at Bass Pro. Put in a brand new SanDisk SD card, new Duracell batteries, started the setup procedure again and put the camera down to answer a phone call from my brother. I spoke with him for a few minutes and walked back over to pick up the camera and it felt very warm as soon as I picked it up. I looked down and saw several of the batteries had split and were bubbling battery acid out of openings. Just amazing. Should be no questioning the batteries or the SD card this time. Both incidents occurred while in setup mode. I will be contacting Bushnell this time.
