D55IR or I40. Which do yo prefer

i would say the i-40 just because i have one and it is the best camera that i have ever used. I just use generic batteries and can get at least 6 months out of it (500 pics average every 2 weeks). Either way though i think you will be ok because moultrie makes some great cameras...i will include a couple i-40 pics for you to look at

bigcountry, I have had no experience with the D55IR, since it is a totally new camera, but I have owned two Moultrie I-40s and I can tell you they take the best pics of any of my cameras, and I have ten different brands. You can get them right now on Moultrie's site at a really good price, since they aren't going to be manufactured anymore after this year.
