Is there a point-n-shhot camera that uses same file format as bushnell trophy cam?
I just got one and I want to buy a point-n-shoot that i can download the pics to, or at least look at them while I'm in there. Then I can make a decision of wether to change the sd card or leave it longer.
I am in the market for a new digital camera, and would rather spend the money on that rather than buying a card reader. If I do go the card reader route, is there a way to download the pix from the card reader to my computer? Or do I have to pull the camera to download them? |
Whether there is a camera that would be compatible with the card you are using in your trailcam would probably be a guess. Maybe you could try it out on some borrowed cameras to see if it will work. As far as the card readers downloading to your computer, I think most of them do. At the very least, they all have a cord to attach to your television. www.chasingame.com did a whole section on various card readers and their capabilities. Log onto their website and see if there is one that fulfills your needs. Another option might be one of those digital picture frames they sell at Walmart and many other places. Just make sure you get one that will operate on battery power. I have used my wife's to do that before. One advantage with those are they come in so many different screen sizes. Hope this helps.

so you need to have a point and shoot camera in order to take the card out of the trophy cam and view on a digital camera?

I can view my pics taken on my Scoutguard on my kodak easyshare.
The cards from my cudde captures say invalid file format when I put it in my easyshare though. The spec of the jpg is a little different in why one works and the other don't. |
so should i be able to switch the memory cards in field and take them home and put them in a digital camera to view the pics???
I dont want to buy a trail cam that i have to take down out of the woods everytime to see what it took pics of |

I dont want to buy a trail cam that i have to take down out of the woods everytime to see what it took pics of Just have spares that you swap in the field. If you want to know whats on the card before you get home then pop it in to your digital pic, hit the review button and look at everything on the card. You aren't downloading anything, just viewing the pics on the card. |

Some cameras have a USB cable to hook them to your computer, or you could get a cheap card reader to hook up to your computer. XP or Vista has their own software to upload them to your computer.

My other concern is what do I put them in to download them into my computer? I want to avoid pulling the camera from the field to up load them at home.
They are dirt cheap USB Card Readers I put an all-in-one in the slot where a floppy drive could go. I think I paid $18 for it and it supports like 9 different card types. |
What brand of trail camera do you have...and does your trail camera have an SD card?If so then all you need is a decent hand-held digital camera the view the SD card on out in the field or at home. Most of the hand-held digital camera's come with an external cable to hook to the camera and then into the computer or you can simply pull the SD card out of the trail camera and put it into the SD card slot on your computer. You can also get a cheap SanDisk "Flash Drive" to store your pictures off your SD card onto it from your computer....or take it (your SD card from your trail camera) to your local Wal-Mart and do like I do and have the pictures put on a CD/DVD disc to view in your computer or even on your TV's DVD Player.
One thing to watch is if Your camera takes the night IR (InfaRed Pictures) certain hand-held digital camera's WILL NOT be able to view the IR pictures and others will.My expensive Kodak Easy Share Z1275 digital camera will view pictures from my regular Moultrie 4.0 digital trail camera SD card but will not read the SD cards from my Moultrie I-60 InfaRed Camera. My Daughters cheaper Kodak EasyShare C913 digital camera will read my I-60 InfaRed SD cards just fine.Just take one of your SD cards to Wally World and try out several different digital camera's to see which one works the best!Sometimes when I got out Hunting I pull the SD on my nearest trail camera and I view all the new pictures while I'm up in my ladder stand waiting on a Deer to come by! ;) |
