RE: IR Cameras
The choice becomes simple depending on what you need it for. Trail or feeder.

RE: IR Cameras
not knocking the others but i use my Moultrie on trails not feeders....and have had no problems. just use common sense and don't place the camera directly across a trail, point it down a trail.

That to me is a one of the main drawbacks of a "trail" camera. You cant always rely on deer to use that trail, some may come in from entire different angles. I have owned moultries in the past, not just my 08' I40. With my Gamewatcher 200 I would have to do just that, pointed it down the trail/path the deer will be coming/going from. The second problem with that is you may never know which way the deer will be heading so you may just sometimes have a tail shot of that nice buck[&:] Point that same cam on a feeder and its an entire different ballgame... Most of the I40 users have not ever used the Scoutguard, being that it is brand new and just came out this year. If you can get your hands on a 07' I40 then that is a better comparison to the scoutguard. (Even then I believe the Scoutguard is the overall better cam.) However the 08' I40's 2.5-3sec trigger is no where satisfactory in a "Trail" camera. I hope Moultrie gets things together and comes out with much smaller and quicker triggered cam as HCO has done this year.;) |
