Corn was close by. After looking over the pics again, I think it is probably more likely that he is just moving leaves out of the way uncovering the ground. But it sure did look like he urinated in that spot.

No escape from a zoo. Black bear are common to this area and increasing in numbers. The closest zoo is 300 miles away.

Is it just me or does it look like a beaver chewed that split tree off and there is some wood chips laying there. Maybe he is waiting for a meal or thought there was a dead beaver there at one time. Either that or it looks like there is corn kernals layin there. haha I dunno tryin to come up with somethin. Prolly no water within a mile of there, haha. WCL

Sorry, no water source nearby. This site is halfway up a mountain on a old logging road.

And I think the wood chips you are seeing is corn.
