Default 9/27/2007 - I predict I will have a trail cam stolen soon

I've been using trail cameras for the last 7 years and I've never had one stolen. But, I have a bad feeling! I had someone steal a sd card out of one cam (and throw it on the ground), and I've caught tresspassers on camera 3 times this year. As the masses get ready to start hunting gun season - I officially predict I'm going to get a camera stolen. That said, I still can't get myself to take the cameras out of the woods - I moved them, but I'm still worried.

My more expensive cams are all cabled and locked to the trees.

Every time I go to check the cameras I can't take my eye off the spot where the camera is. I'm going to move my cameras this weekend off of trails that people use and into the thick stuff. I'll get less pictures but maybe the cameras will last longer.

I now have4 people that I don't really even know that know I have cameras out there. I'm not telling these people, they're finding the cameras on their own. I don't know why I even bothered putting up all the posted signs.

Everytime I go into the woods to check my camera, I ask myself...."is today the day that my camera is gone." One of these days, I am going to be right...but I hope that day doesn't come for a long, long time....

Great post. I feel like this all the time! Glad I have not lost one yet... tree stand theft gives you that empty stomach feeling as well [:'(]

why not make boxes for them and lock them to the trees? At least make it difficult to steal them.

They just took your SD card out and threw it on the ground?

Its pretty sad that this has to even be a topic but I know how you feel. I have lost a tree stand so far. My friend has lost 3. No lost trail cams yet but I just got into the trail cam bug this year so we will see. There wouldnt be so much posted land if it wasnt for the morons. Like they say it only takes a few dumb @#!$% to ruin it for everyone else.

yea. they must not like wildview cameras. that camera is about 100 yards from some of the most heavily hunted public land in minnesota. I've had a camera on that tree for about 7 years now and it's never been stolen. I'm actually surprised.

I lock all my camera's except my 35mm cams, wildview 2.0 and my bushnell 119202 (the trail cam bug got me good!). The other cameras are cabled and locked but someone with a handsaw or a pliers could break through the plastic on the cam and take off with it. camera would still work fine. Or they could just cut down the tree. I try to keep the honest people honest. If someone really wants a camera, they're going to get it.
