Default Too many pics of small game...........

I am using the Moultrie 4.0 for the first time this year and like it so far. However I keep getting countless pics of squirrels, foxes, coons, crows, rabbits, etc. I am getting good pics of deer but my battery life is being drained by all the other pics and I could be getting even more deer pics if not for the smaller game. Is there any way to fix the camera so that it won't trigger on the small game? Thanks in advance for any help you may have! Erik

I'm guessing you have it on a food source. If no, I dunno but if you do, get the camera high enough you cant get those things that are less and 2 feet tall on camera. You'll still get your deer but no little critters. WCL

do you have a pile of corn out? I suspect you do. The only thing outside of moving the camera to a deer trail is to aim the camera higher like the previous post said. if you aim it at the pile of corn (assuming that's what you're doing) then you can even get mice pictures. I got hundreds of mice pictures last year.

Thanks guys, I'll try that. I had it set to where if you were standing 10' away from the camera, the laser pointer would hit you approximately thigh high. The camera was also set about 3' off the ground which means the laser is fairly level. How high can I aim the camera and still allow deer to trigger it, and would it be any better to have the camera tilted upwards at an incline?

Even though many people have negative comments about Moultrie they still make a good camera for the money. Hearing that you have the lazer pointer makes it easier to set up. First when you go to point the lazer i usually set the camera up around my belly button or so high. Then point the camera at my knees. I read where yours is around your thigh so I can quite figure out why your having the problems you are unless you are on corn or some kind of bait. Now is a good time to try and make a mock scrape so this way you know that you will be only getting deer and sometimes a few small rodents that pass by. When youmake a mock scrape bring in a zip tye and find an old stick to hang where the deer are going threw at. Old Stick meaning something that will stachurate (can't spell) the scent. Use Lick'n' stick by prime time scents, not deer urine. Then use either dominat buck by prime time and my favorite Buck urine by Code Blue. Make the scrape and hang the camera around 15' away from the camera.

As far as battery life I found out that if I used a Mojo Duck Rechargable battery I could use it for around a month or so with out having to charge it. Depends on the amps the battery puts out. You can get a moultry rechargable battery at Bass Pro Shops for around 9 dollars and a charger for 9 dollars. I converted my camera over to just plug into the battery rather than the clips made it a lot nicer.

Here is a link to the batteries I use I would use E or A. E puts out more amps might last longer. Good Luck
