Homebrew ........... you can get exactly what you want and a whole lot cheaper with a better reaction time and quality pics.

I think you need to clarify the purpose of the camera. If it will be a true trail camera it seems that you either need to homebrew or buy a $450+ camera. If you are going to be setting it up over bait even the $50 el cheapos will work decently.

I'm leaning toward buying a Moultrie 3.1 and a Stealth ATC-AD3 and trying them both out. They both run around $150 and I will probably buy them at a big box store so if they are complete failures I can return them without a hassle. If one is considerably better than the other I will probably return the one that isn't performing as well. I will probably be using them over bait and I will only be able to check on them about once a month so battery life is important. The Moutrie 3.1 can use the big 6 volt batterys and the Stealth ATC-AD3 uses 8 D Cell batteries so they should both last quite some time.

Tough question with no budget considerations.

There are budget considerations. Your own.

Homebrew for sure. I just finished one and it works great.
