I've just been using Energizer D cells (it takes 4) and SD Cards (256 MB). The batteries have been lasting about 3 weeks.

My father-in-law has this trail cam and he is getting all dark pics at night time unless the animal is literally standing right infront of the camera. Is this a weakness of the camera? I have noticed a few comments about this in this thread...

According to the specs, the flash range is 15'. Is this correct? If that is the case, this is only 5 yards.

Just brought it back to the house, put in the closet with no flash going off at all, new batteries also.

Going back today UPS for something different.

For my experience so far, I think the flash range is more like 25-30 feet, because I'm getting some real pictures at that distance.

The real problem is the sensor is much better than the flash and you do get some dark snaps as a result. Still I say it's the best $120 camera I've seen.

25-30 flash range with this camera? wow, that's awesome. i have mine on one edge of a 12' food plot with logs blocking anything after 12' and i get blank pics all the time! I would guess flash range is closer to 8-10 with mine. completely crappy! you need to put this camera on a trail where you know where the deer is going to be.
