I've been using an inline for several years with pretty good success. Now, I have an opportunity to acquire a .50 percussion cap muzzleloader. Trying to gather information on line but a lot of the sites are fragmented and don't do a good job differentiating between inline and percussion cap/flintlock weapons. Can anyone steer me toward some solid information on powder types, percussion caps, ball vs. conical bullets etc. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I own a TC renegade. One of the best side locks out there but not made any more. I like that it is 1:48 twist. Prob wouldnt work
with sabots, but does well with round balls and full bore conicals. I don’t like to be limited to just round balls. You can use real black, pyrodex, or 777. Personally I like 777 as the cleanup is a little easier. I only use loose. Cheaper and more able to tweak a load. Usually use CCI magnum # 11 caps if I can find them.
