Default Best bang for $

I want to try a Flintlock .50 cal, but don't want to lose my shirt buying if i end up not liking the style. Used models seem to fetch as much as new ones, cept custom made ones. Looking to make tree stand shots mostly in the woods

Problem is once you get hooked on flinters there is no going back. Both the Lyman and T/Cs are excellent choices but don't overlook CVA.

For Hunting from Treestands, you may want to look at the Lyman Deerstalker!

Good point Ed. I forgot about that one. A nice short flintlock. That's the same one I told my cousin to buy several years ago.

Don't bother trying to get 4F. 3F works just fine and simplifies things a bit.
