Hi All, I did a job for a guy who was short of the readies so i accepted a plain piece of mahogany as payment question has anybody else used this stuff and would it make a good rifle stock for a hunting flintlock and any ideas for a dye and colour it is very light tan at the moment no re-enacting or time period restrictions just a working flinter may be a poor boy Rob

I did one with mahogany that turned out quite nice. It was a dark South American mahogany and very nice to work with. The only finish I applied was multiple heavy coats of a 50/50 mix of real Tung Oil and mineral spirits, rubbed down with a cotton cloth between coats after each coat dried.
