Don't be afraid to ask if you can run a snug fitting patch in and out the bore. If he says NO, he may be trying to hide something... you should be able to feel a rough bore or a bulge with a snug patch. The old rule of thumb is, if it looks rough on the outside, it's probably rough on the inside.
