CVA Hawken .54cal 100 yards - My brothers
As I said before in the previous post, we took our time and enjoyed the moment!
This is the FIRST time out at 100 yards with his CVA Hawken .54cal that my dad and I rebuilt for him for Christmas. I did all the work including the bedding job, stock shaping, finish, etc. We had it 3" high at 50 yards and today, the results were perfect. 90gr 2FG Goex, .020" patches lubed with anti rust and patch lube, .530" home cast round balls. His has the original style rear sight ( modern adjustable) but we outfitted it with a german silver front blade sight and the thing just flat out WORKS! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Oughta put meat on the table with that. ;)

Hopefully! He has 2 pref points for deer and he put in for a doe tag. Should be one heck of a hunt if he draws a tag. I'll have a bull tag for sure.

Very nice shooting. I noticed too that if your 2 inches high at 50, your much lower then you'd think at 100. But since I seldom shoot that far hunting, I sight them dead on at 50. That is good shooting and a beautiful rifle. Nice job there!!

That is a great 100 yard group. Nice rifle too.
i sight my conventional guns dead on at 75 yards and limit my shots on animals to that distance, preferably not over 60 yards. |
Very nice. Are you sure you're going to give him that rifle now after shooting it like that?

Sure am. I've got a few of my own that shoot like that one, especially my .58!
